--Plane--
Lorwyn is unlike other planes in several ways, the first of which being that it isn't your typical sphere. Rather, this world is indeed flat; a disc that floats in the air in much the same way that bricks don't (kudos if you get that reference) bounded by the Primal Beyond. Secondly, humans don't live here. This fairytail realm features kithkin, giants, elves, fairies, treefolk, merfolk, goblins and elementals. Lastly, Lorwyn has a dark counterpart called Shadowmoor; and the plane shifts between the two sides every three centuries or so.
Or at least, it did. Queen Oona of the Fae was the primary cause of this cycle; having initially woven a web of magic to secure more power and influence, she inadvertently threw the planar inhabitants into a Jekyll and Hyde state. Giving each aspect of her people's split-personalities their own domain was her answer to restabilizing the chaos. With Queen Oona's death, her web of control was broken and the plane returned to a normal day/night cycle; with a side effect of locking the majority of people into their Shadowmoor forms, the memories of their Lorwyn selves flooding back and needing to be reconciled with their identity.
With Maralen as the new queen of the fae, she's certainly had her work cut out for her.
